The Peak Challenge is a self-paced trail challenge for Northern Utah trail lovers who want to set a goal to bag all four iconic local peaks in one season. From Malan’s Peak at 6,980 feet to Ben Lomond Peak at 9,711 feet, each summit offers a rewarding challenge for hikers of all levels.

Participants choose when to complete each of the four peaks; Malans, Lewis, Mt. Ogden & Ben Lomond - just like the levels of our TFNU membership program. Peaks can be done any time, and in any order, between June 6th and October 23rd. Whether you end up bagging just one or do all four, participants will receive an exclusive peak sticker for each mountain top you reach and an exclusive sticker once all four peaks are completed. Those who complete all four peaks during the challenge period will also be recognized at the TFNU Fall Trail Mixer and receive a special award.

FAQ

1. Did you get your participation swag? As part of your registration, you get a free Peak Challenge specific cooling towel (love seeing them in the pictures!) and your dog gets a sticker and dog bowl. If you didn't sign up at the market, come by our office at 2661 Washington Blvd, Suite 203 to collect yours!

2. Are you submitting your summits? Don't forget to submit each summit to mark it off your peak list. We need proof of a summit picture AND/OR your recorded activity! Summit as a group? Everyone in your group MUST submit their individual form, even if the same photo or recorded activity is attached. Here is a quick link to the submission form.

3. Want a Peak Challenge Flag to take with you on your adventure? Check out a challenge flag, take it with you on your adventure and then snap a pic on the summit with your flag. You can sign it, date it and return it. These flags will then be available for purchase at the Fall Trail Mixer in October. Due to the overwhelming popularity of these flags, you will only be able to check them out for 7 days at a time. Flags can be checked out by stopping by the office.

4. Didn't receive your Peak Challenge confirmation email?

Check your junk or spam folder after signing up. If you still don't see it email [email protected].

5. What counts towards the Peak Challenge?

However you choose to reach the summit, hiking, biking, or taking the tram, it counts. Just make sure you reach the top and have photo proof.

6.When will individual peak records be updated?

Peak records are updated weekly on Wednesdays.

7. Are you filming your Peak Challenge journey?  On November 5th, TFNU is hosting the first annual Ogden Mountain Film Festival at the Historic Peery’s Egyptian Theater and one of the categories you can enter is the 2026 Peak Challenge Short Film. We hope you'll consider submitting a film of your Peak Challenge journey!
